01 Mar 2011
After the political parties now it is Raja's turn to be part of the proceedings of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe into the 2G spectrum scam for which he moved a Delhi court yesterday seeking video conferencing of the judicial procedures on the spectrum scam.
Raja has urged to be allowed to appear before the court via videoconferencing, citing a recent amendment in the JPC to that effect
The application, filed by advocate Ramesh Gupta on behalf of Raja has not yet been taken up under consideration. The appeal is to be decided today.
The CBI recently unearthed some damaging evidence on the role of Raja in the 2G spectrum scam as also on his favours to some telecom companies.
Questions have been raised as to how, despite Swan Telecom failing to fulfill any of the criteria set forth still managed to get the licenses. Allegations had also been aired that Raja along with his telecom secretary Siddhartha Behura turned a blind eye to the issues to the advantage of telecom companies.
A Raja, Siddhartha Behura, R K Chandolia and the promoter of Swam Telecom are in judicial custody in Tihar Jail at the moment.
