Rajasthan has most solar project that have achieved financial closure

Rajasthan has the highest number of solar power projects that are in the process of implementation or have achieved financial closure, data provided by the nodal agency for the programme NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd (NVVN) showed.
Under the first phase of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) the government had, in January 2011, signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) for 28 solar PV projects of 5MW each - a combined capacity of 140MW.
These projects are to be commissioned by the solar project developers (SPD) within one year from the date of signing of PPAs and, accordingly, projects were to be commissioned from 7 January 2012 to 9 January 2012.
Out of these 28 Projects, 24 Projects are in Rajasthan and the balance in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh and Tamilnadu.
Out of the 28 companies awarded solar photovoltaic projects in the second round of bidding under the National Solar Mission, 27 have achieved financial closure, NVVN said today.
Twenty-four of the 27 solar power projects except the Sree Saibaba Green Power Pvt Ltd and Essel MP Energy Ltd in Maharahtra and the Saisudhir Energy Ltd in Andhra Pradesh, are in Rajasthan, data released by NVVN showed.
