20 Aug 2010
Telecom services provider Reliance Communications and Indian subsidiary of Finnish-handset maker Nokia today announced an alliance to offer a range of mobile and data services to Indian consumers.
Under the alliance, Reliance customers will get access to Nokia's Ovi life tools while Nokia users can get the Reliance data cards, at discounted prices.
Ovi Life Tools is a set of mobile information and application services covering crop prices, education, health, games, maps, music and entertainment.
"With the rollout of 3G, we see a huge opportunity in fostering a mutually beneficial business relationship to offer customers unique voice, data as well as VAS innovations with Nokia," Vrajesh Shelat, head, wireless data services and alliances of Reliance Communications, said.
The two companies will jointly create an environment to address the information gaps in rural and semi-urban India by making available Ovi life tools, a personalised service on agriculture, education and entertainment, for Reliance users.
Reliance will offer Ovi Life Tools services in two versions, subscription and pay per use.
