Reliance Industries to bid for Navi Mumbai international airport project

Mumbai: Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries, which is promoting the Navi Mumbai Special Economic Zone, will also bid for the proposed international airport at Navi Mumbai.
Anand Jain, in charge of the SEZ ventures of the Reliance Group, on Tuesday said that Reliance would bid for the greenfield airport project at Navi Mumbai, which will come up not far from the SEZ. The airport will also be the second to be located in the western metropolis of Mumbai.
The Union cabinet has already cleared the Navi Mumbai airport project, with its technical aspects receiving clearance from the Indian civil aviation authorities, as well as the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
The project is being developed by various organisations, including the state agency CIDCO.
Reliance is promoting the Navi Mumbai SEZ over an area of 17,300 acres, entailing an investment of about Rs4000 crore ($10.1 billion).
