Russia may control 25 per cent of global nuclear fuel market by 2030

Enerhodar: Russian state-controlled nuclear fuel supplier TVEL has said it plans to control 25 per cent of the world's nuclear fuel market by 2030. The company currently controls 17 per cent of the world's market of fuel for nuclear power plants.
According to Pyotr Lavrenyuk, the company's vice president, the adjustment was due to "a change in global nuclear power plant construction dynamics." In 2008, he pointed out, there were 436 reactors in the world, with a total installed capacity of 370 GW. By 2030, their number is expected to increase to 660.
TVEL supplies fuel to76 power generating reactors and 30 research reactors in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Ukraine, Armenia, Lithuania, Finland, China and India apart from Russia.
The company is headquartered in Moscow.
