Sasan ultra mega power project connected to grid: Reliance Power
17 Sep 2012
Reliance Power today announced the commissioning of the 400 Kv switchyard at the Sasan Ultra Mega Power Plant, connecting the 3,960 MW Sasan UMPP to the national grid.
''The project is now ready to draw power from the grid to provide start-up power for the first 660 MW unit, which is nearing completion,'' the Anil Ambani-led group saod ina release.
The project was completed five months ahead of the scheduled date, it added.
The switchyard would enable evacuation of power from the Sasan UMPP to seven states, which would be using power from the project.
Reliance Power said it has already started coal production at the 20 million tonne Moher and Moher-Amlohri coal mines. Sasan UMPP thus has both the fuel as well as the off-take systems in place for its commissioning ahead of schedule, Reliance Power added.
Reliance Power has power projects based on coal, gas, hydro and renewable energy, with an operating portfolio of 1,540 MW.
