Schneider Electric enters renewable energy with Xantrex solar inverters
18 Mar 2010
New Delhi: Schneider Electric India today said it was entering into the renewable energy segment with the launch of the Xantrex range of renewable energy products. The company is the fully owned Indian subsidiary of Paris headquartered Schneider Electric SA, a global specialist in energy management.
The Xantrex range has been rebranded as Schneider Electric globally. In September 2008, Schneider acquired Toronto Stock Exchange-listed Xantrex Technology Inc, a top three global player in the solar and wind inverter market.
The acquisition enabled Schneider to extend its footprint in renewable energy through Xantrex's leadership in the promising North American solar inverter market, extend its position in the key European markets Germany and Spain, acquire the broad product portfolio in reliable leading edge 1 and 3 phase power technology
and dedicated market access through specialised distributors, system integrators and OEMs.
Schneider Electric, with Xantrex, is now a leader in the development, manufacturing and marketing of advanced power electronic products and systems for the renewable power market.
Through Xantrex, Schneider now specialises in inverters and gateways to solar and wind plants that convert the direct current produced by ''clean'' generators such as photovoltaic panels or wind turbines into alternating current which is required by electronic equipment and the electricity grid.
Olivier Blum, managing director, Schneider Electric India, said, ''The launch of Schneider Electric renewable energy solutions marks our entry into the expanding Indian renewable energy market. The new renewable solutions complement the existing Schneider Electric integrated solutions making energy safe, reliable, efficient, productive and green for our customers from plant to plug''.
