Scottish government clears two wind farms that can power 90,000 homes

The Scottish government has cleared the setting up of two wind farms that could power more than 90,000 homes.
According to energy minister Fergus Ewing, approval had been granted for the 59-turbine Dorenell wind farm on the Glenfiddich estate, near Dufftown in Moray.
The 177 MW project could produce enough power to meet the requirements of 84,000 houses, which is double the number of homes in Moray.
An additional 9,000 homes would be powered by the six-turbine, 21MW extension to the 104 MW Muaitheabhal wind farm on the Eisgein estate in Lewis.
The Muaitheabhal wind farm received consent in January 2010 but is yet to be built.
Infinergy Ltd (UK) applied for building the Dorenell wind farm in 2008. However, the Moray Council objected to the project, which was then referred to a public inquiry.
