Seven Indian companies nominated for Platts Global Energy Awards

Global energy and commodities information provider, Platts today announced the finalists for the Platts Global Energy Awards 2010, an annual program recognising exemplary industry leadership.
The finalists, selected from over 200 nominations spanning 21 countries, feature seven energy companies from India including Reliance Industries Ltd, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), Coal India Ltd, Cairn India Limited and others.
North Delhi Power Limited is nominated in two categories namely 'Power Company of the Year' and 'Leading Technologies – Commercial'.
Other shortlists include Gail (India) Limited and Uhde India Private Limited.
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and Reliance Industries Ltd are nominated for 'Green Energy- Operational Excellence' and 'Energy Efficiency- Outstanding Programs / End-User' categories.
"This underscores the industry's increasing commitment to developing environmentally-conscious solutions to the country's supply needs,'' said Vandana Hari, editorial director-Asia, Platts.
Established in 1999, the awards highlight corporate and individual innovation, leadership, and superior performance in 17 categories spanning the entire energy complex.
In addition to the awards in the specific performance categories, Platts will also name the '2010 Energy Company of the Year.'
The awards will be announced on 2 December at New York's Cipriani Wall Street.
