Simplex Infrastructure enters power transmission

Simplex Infrastructure Ltd has entered power transmission business by bagging the contract for setting up a 756 KV transmission system associated with the Krishnapattanam ultra mega power project.
The transmission system will synchronise the interconnection between the southern and western regions spanning 210 km from Raichur in Andhra Pradesh to Sholapur in Maharashtra.
A consortium comprising Simplex Infrastructure, BS TransComm Ltd and Patel Engineering won the contract, worth an estimated Rs300 crore.
The project is slated for completion by December 2013 and the operational life of the transmission line is 35 years.
Simplex Infrastructure, a company specialising in infrastructure projects, is into the construction of power plants, transmission lines, electrical distribution, roads and flyovers, bridges and highways, multi-storied buildings and housing complexes, cross-country pipelines, water supply schemes, sewerages etc.
The company reported a turnover of Rs4,555 crore and an after-tax profit of Rs127 crore for the 2009-10 financial year.
Set up in 1924, the company has a presence in almost all Indian states as well as the Middle East. The company employs 8,110 people.
