Spanish wind power company Gamesa has signed a deal with Caparo Energy India Ltd for supply of wind turbines for the latter's 2000 mega Watt wind energy projects in India.
Under the deal, Gamesa's largest in India so far, the Spanish company will supply and install wind turbines of a total capacity of 2000 MW for Caparo Energy between 2012 and 2016. Gamesa will install a total of around 150 MW wind turbine capacity for Caparo Energy by 2012.
Gamesa Wind Turbines Pvt Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of Gamesa, today announced the signing of the order with Caparo Energy India Limited (CEIL) for supply, erection and commissioning of 2000 MW of turbine capacity for wind power projects to be set up in India. The deal is the largest of its kind in India and one of the largest in the world, the company said in a release.
The two companies did not disclose the value of the deal.
This agreement will be serviced from Gamesa's new capacities being set up in India where the G97-2.0 MW turbines and blades will be manufactured.
Gamesa Corp Technologica SA had, in March, announced plans to invest €60 million (Rs375 crore) through 2012 to build new wind turbine plants in India as part of the company's strategy to expand into fast-growing markets. (See: Spain's Gamesa plans to invest €60 million in India)
