Spice Mobile launches S-1200 camera phone

Handset maker Spice Mobiles on Thursday launched the launch of mobile phone model S-1200 in India and announced plans to start manufacturing mobile phones in India by the end of this year. The company is targeting sales of one million devices a month from April.
From next month the company will start trial production of handsets in India Spice Mobiles director and CEO Kunal Ahooja said.
"We already have a facility in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, where we manufacture other devices. We will start trial production of our handsets from next month and start the commercial manufacturing following that by the end of this year," Ahooja told reporters after the launch of the company's 12-mega pixel camera phone in New Delhi on Thursday.
"With the launch of S-1200, we have created a new category of hi-end camera phones. The new handset with its cutting edge technology and advanced camera functionalities brings with it new sophisticated technology which is the first step for future innovations in the expanding brand portfolio from Spice. With this handset, our customers can enjoy the dual advantage of a phone with in-built full-fledged camera," Ahooja said.
"In the coming months, we will launch more exciting mobile handsets equipped with path-breaking technologies. We will also be expanding our reach by opening new stores and expanding our retailers' base," he added.
Spice Mobile currently enjoys a 5 per cent market share with an annual volume of over 50-lakh handsets.
