Sri Lankan Airlines to fly to Coimbatore - will operate 99 weekly flights to India

Sri Lankan Airlines is continuing to enhance its Indian operations at a remarkable pace, announcing Wednesday that it will launch services to Coimbatore from October 29. These will take the number of its weekly flights to India to 99.
The airline is currently operating 95 flights a week to 11 destinations in this neighbouring country.
"Sri Lankan Airlines has positioned Colombo as the gateway to India, and we are continuously increasing our services there," Peter Hill, chief executive of Sri Lankan Airlines said in a statement.
"This includes the addition of more and more cities across India to our route network."
Coimbatore, the second largest city in Tamil Nadu, provides a gateway for travellers to fly to the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the Far East, the statement said.
Sri Lankan will initially operate four flights a week on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday using Airbus A320 aircraft.
