Tariff issue between Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi's discoms

The Delhi government, in a complete change of position over Arvind Kejriwal's campaign against the recent increase in power tariff, yesterday said the issue was between ''Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi's discoms''.

On Saturday, Delhi's power minister,  Haroon Yusuf said the protest was illegal and demanded ''legal action against Kejriwal''.

The decision to not take any position on the issue was taken after a meeting with chief minister Sheila Dikshit at her residence.

According to Yusuf, all distribution companies (discoms) had been asked to look into the issue.

He added, this was between Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi's discoms and they had been asked to look into provisions of law and the Electricity Act and take any remedial measure. Yusuf said there was a legal system in place, which no one could bypass.

Delhi's discoms remained tightlipped over the next course of action, and some of them are reported to be seeking legal advice on what could be done about people restoring disconnected power supply.
