New Delhi: Telecom user base is set to reach 203 million in 2007 while telecom revenues are expected to almost triple to $23-25 billion, according to Ernst & Young.

The report said teledensity had increased from merely two per cent in 1999 to about seven per cent in 2003. It is set to cross 20 per cent in the next five years, beating government's target by three years.

The report added that the global wireless revolution had been the principal growth engine in India, as in other parts of the world.

"The wireless subscriber base has galloped from 1.6 million in 1999 to 28.2 million in 2003. In the last three years, two out of every three new telephone subscribers were wireless subscribers," it said.
