The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the date for submission of written comments on blocking of IMEI for lost or stolen mobiles to 15 December 2010 and for counter comments till 22 December 2010.

TRAI had, on 2 November, issued a consultation paper on the `Issues relating to blocking of IMEI for lost /stolen mobile handsets', and had sought comments by 30 November 2010 and counter comments by 7 December 2010.

TRAI said it extended the last date for giving comments on the issue, keeping in view the importance of the issue and request by stakeholders for extension of the date for sending comments.

TRAI has now requested stakeholders to submit their comments and counter comments before the new dates, preferably in electronic form `pradvmn@trai.gov.in and trai.mn@gmail.com'.
