Truecaller app gets update to version 6.60 on Android
10 Mar 2016
The popular caller ID and spam-blocking app Truecaller has received an update to version 6.60 on Android, which introduces several Truedialer features, including 'smart call history', availability status, and a built-in dialler.
With Truecaller v6.60's smart call history, unknown numbers are replaced by faces in the call history inside the app, even for those phone numbers that are not saved in the device's contact list. With this users can skip the process of saving contacts on the handset's phonebook.
The updated app also comes with availability status feature, first introduced to the Truedailer app in September last year. The feature shows whether friends or contacts of the user are free to talk before the caller planned to call them.
The availability status is green if a person is free to take calls; but switches to Red if the user in on a call at the moment.
The third addition to the Truecaller v6.60 is the built-in dialler, which would now allow users to make calls directly from within the Truecaller app, thus saving the time taken to switch back to the handset's stock dialler to make a call. The latest app version can be downloaded from Google Play.
"Truecaller has become a necessity for hundreds of millions of people in their daily communication by always knowing who's calling them and protecting them against spam calls. We are now taking this to the next level by changing the way people make phone calls with our integrated dialer and adding more context to your contacts that has never been seen before." said Alan Mamedi, Truecaller co-founder & CEO, TOI Tech reported.
"Now, you can completely replace your existing dialer and only use Truecaller for all your calls. We are also very pleased to see our OEM partners being so supportive of our mission."
The latest update had started rolling out to users on Android, and would reach all users in the coming weeks.
