UK army chief''s visit to add further impetus to ongoing defence cooperation

New Delhi: Gen Sir Richard Dannatt, Chief of General Staff, UK has arrived in India on an official visit that began on 29 October and will continue till 3 November 2007. His visit comes even as the two armies recently concluded their first ever-joint exercise at Leh, where a contingent of the UK''s Royal Marines interacted with paratroopers from the Indian Army.
According to the ministry of defence, Sir Richard Dannatt''s visit comes at a time when defence cooperation with the British Army is at an all time high. The joint activities between the two forces encompass visits, joint exercises, training exchanges and participation in seminars and conferences etc.
During his visit, Gen Dannatt expects to interact with senior military and civil officials and discuss defence related issues, as well as prospects for future cooperation between the two forces.

Dannatt will also visit field formations of the Indian Army at Jaipur, Srinagar
and Agra as well as other premiere establishments.
