Home grown solar module manufacturer Vikram Solar has launched new module series 6 using M6-size (166mm) cells. The new module series, including the monofacial Somera series and bifacial Prexos series, are capable of providing peak output of up to 505 watts.
The new Series 6 Mono and Bifacial modules with M6 type of Mono PERC cells and Multi Bus Bar also offer efficiency ranging between 18.34 per cent and 21.02 per cent.
The shift to a more technologically advanced solar solution will serve as a perfect component to facilitate a faster shift from traditional to renewable energy withnin India and outside, Vikram stated in a release.
Both the Somera and Prexos module series are built using multibusbar, half-cut, mono-crystalline PERC cells based on large-format M6-size wafers. The modules are available in 120, 144 and 156 half-cell versions, with efficiency depending on the cell version.
Vikram Solar said the 120 cell version modules, available in All Black variant also, ranges from 340Wp-375Wp offer 19.84 per cent to 20.22 per cent efficiency and focused towards the US Residential market and also to the EU/ROW market.
The 144 cell version modules, ranging from 435Wp-465Wp offering up to 20.91 per cent efficiency and 156 cell version modules ranging from 475Wp-505Wp offering up to 21.02 per cent efficiency, are meant for the global audience, including India, US, EU & ROW.
“The new Series 6 is a game-changer for the global solar industry from efficiency, power output, and cost-effectiveness perspective. Bringing down the Levellised Cost of Energy (LCOE) is at the heart of designing and manufacturing the Series 6 modules. With this launch, we have further strengthened our product portfolio, which caters to all customer segments,” Saibaba Vutukuri, chief executive officer, Vikram Solar, said.
The Series 6 modules are claimed to deliver high performance even in low light and partially lit areas.
The Monofacial version of the Series 6 multi-busbar (MBB) modules will be called Somera Series 6 and the Bifacial version will be known as Prexos Series 6.
The new series also offers significant advantages in solar projects, including cost savings at every major stage/major component, the company stated.
Advantages of the new Series 6 modules:
- · About 9.09 per cent reduction in the number of modules;
- · About 12 per cent reduction on land requirement;
- · About 12.82 per cent cost savings on cables;
- · About 15 per cent cost savings on the use of String Combiner Boxes;
- · About 12.50 per cent cost savings on civil works;
- · About 4.5 per cent cost savings on module mounting structure; and
- · About 10.20 per cent reduction in the O&M cost.
