Virgin Mobile India ties up with app store GetJar

Virgin Mobile India today announced its alliance with GetJar, the cross-platform mobile applications store.
The alliance will give Virgin Mobile customers access to applications ranging from games, education, social networking, entertainment, finance, food, health, search, lifestyle and other utility applications on GetJar.
The app store currently offers more than 70,000 free mobile games and applications such as Facebook mobile, Yahoo!, Nimbuzz, Opera mini browser, eBuddy to its users.
"This alliance with GetJar is an initiative in line with our strategy to engage and enthrall the youth with the latest innovative cutting-edge content on the move," said M A Madhusudan, chief executive officer of Virgin Mobile, India.
GetJar supports all major platforms such as Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, Java and Symbian phones amongst others.
Subscribers can download GetJar's applications for free from Virgin Mobile India's website, but at a data browsing charge of 1p/kb.
Virgin Mobile offers its branded services to the Indian customers by Tata Teleservices through a brand franchise with Virgin group.
