Windows users would also be able to set the audience for their WhatsApp profile photo, status as also the 'last seen' feature. Additionally users can also change the device's user interface, which earlier was the same as the phone's 'Message' interface.
Users would also get to set their desired notification alert tones.
They would also get a variety of chat backgrounds, broadcast lists and auto-download for all media.
These changes were introduced to iOS earlier in January and to Android in the second week of March.
The app can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Store.
The free to download app has been updated to work with Windows 7.5, 8 and 8.1 OS devices. The app uses 3G/EDGE or Wi-Fi connection (when available) to allow users to connect with friends and family and share and receive messages, pictures, voice messages, and video messages.
