Yum! Restaurants opens first Indian Taco Bell outlet in Bangalore

US-based fast food brands operator Yum! Restaurants today launched Taco Bell, its Mexican speciality chain, in India with the opening of the first Taco Bell restaurant in Bangalore.
The company plans to open up to 100 outlets in India by 2015.
Yum! Restaurants, operates brands like Pizza Hut and KFC, and is looking to tap the young consumer segment with Taco Bell's Mexican offerings.
Taco Bell India general manager Ashok Bajpai said the company was confident it would redefine the eating-out market in India with its value proposition and variety of delicacies. He added that the company had already signed up a few more properties in Bangalore and aimed to have 100 outlets in India by 2015.
He said the metro markets would be the first priority for the company and it would then venture into tier II cities with restaurants that will be of around 3,000 sq ft.
"Over 60 per cent of Indians are below the age of 30 years and our focus customer are the youth and those who are young at heart. The Indian quick service restaurant market has been at standstill for some time and we want to bring a breath of fresh air into it," Bajpai said.
