CA Inc to acquire Nimsoft Inc for $350 million to augment cloud-computing products

CA Inc, the technology management software company that has made over 50 acquisitions in its 30-plus year history, said yesterday that it would pay $350 million in cash to acquire privately-held Nimsoft Inc, a supplier of system monitoring to startups, managed service providers and cloud computing.
Islandia, New York-based CA Inc. announced yesterday that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Nimsoft, a leading provider of IT performance and availability monitoring solutions for emerging enterprises and Managed Service Providers (MSPs), in an all-cash transaction valued at $350 million.
Redwood, California-based Nimsoft, founded in 1998 as Nimbus Software and renamed Nimsoft in 2004, is the fastest growing provider of next generation performance and availability monitoring solutions for the complete physical and virtualized IT infrastructure.
Nimsoft sells software that monitors a company's servers and networks applications. By using its software, a company is able to mange its IT systems more efficiently, either at its office or at third-party servers.
For 2009, Nimsoft had reported revenues of $32 million, up 18 per cent from 2008. It has approximately 800 customers mainly in the US and Europe, including nearly 300 MSPs.
Its clients include Barclays Capital, Amway Corporation, Bay Area Rapid Transit, Ladbrokes, MTU Aero Engines, TriNet, TRW Automotive, and hundreds of leading managed service providers such as CDW Berbee, Easynet and Rackspace Managed Hosting.
