CA ventures into publishing with CA Press
02 Feb 2010
Independent IT management software provider CA, Inc yesterday announced its foray into publishing, with the launch of CA Press.
It said that CA Press aims to convey the futuristic, cutting-edge, innovative ideas in business and IT to market. The company's first book published by CA Press, Under Control: Governance Across the Enterprise, was available in the market.
Don Ferguson, EVP and chief technology officer, CA, said, ''CA experts are among the leading authorities on today's most compelling business and IT issues.'' He added, ''We are delighted to introduce CA Press as a resource for professionals seeking to advance their strategic skills and improve the performance of their IT environments and organisations. Our first book on governance is an example of a true industry innovator providing insight and experience on a critical IT topic.''
The book sets out strategies and processes on a wide range of governance issues such as governing organisations' policies holistically instead of in isolation (compartmentalising), a look at the role and impact of governance across departments, governing green initiatives, and the role of the board of directors. These may help the enterprises manage their risk and regulatory requirements.
Authors such as Jacob Lamm (EVP of strategy and corporate development at CA), Sumner Blount, Stephen Boston, Marc Camm, Robert Cirabisi, Nancy E Cooper, Galina Datskovsky, Christopher Fox, Kenneth V Handal, William E McCracken, John Meyer, Helge Scheil, Alan Srulowitz and Robert Zanella, have contributed to the book.
''Businesses today are faced with a confusing array of evolving regulations, the challenge of managing compliance across multinational organisations and an imperative for risk management that is coordinated across the enterprise,'' said Lamm.
He added, ''Yesterday's governance practices do not meet today's need for centralised controls, greater transparency and integrated compliance and risk management. The need for organisations to change - and change now - is clear.''
CA Press is a strategic collaboration with Apress, a major publisher of the nuts and bolts of IT, software development and programming.
