The entire internet could go down for a full 24 hours in 2017 experts warned experts warn.
According to US technology security vendor LogRhythm, a cyber-attack of this scale next year was not only possible, but extremely likely, Business Insider reported.
Mail Online quoted LogRhytm's VP and chief information security officer James Carder, "In 2017, we're going to see it hit big sometime, somewhere. If the internet goes down, financial markets will tank," Carder added.
Twitter, Reddit, Paypal, Netflix and had been Spotify knocked off the internet for hours at a time, in a DDOS attack earlier this year, and according to Carder, the signs were there of an attack that would take down the entire internet.
He told Business Insider cyber criminals were busy with something, saying they are "testing missiles by shooting them into the ocean."
