Technology incubator Science buys Indian start-up Pinpuff
18 Sep 2012
Science, a Los Angeles-based technology incubator that created the Dollar Shave Club and most recently e-commerce site Uncovet, has acquired an Indian start-up - Pinpuff.
This is also the first acquisition by Science, founded by former Myspace CEO Mike Jones, and former senior vice president of AOL.
Pinpuff is a free-to-use tool that aims to accurately measure Pinterest user's influence, reach and social virality on Pinterest, assign a ''Pinfluence'' score and monetary values of their pins.
Pinpuff was launched in February this year.
The deal is expected to create fresh challenges in the social media space as infotech firms look for new tools and new space to mine and share information.
''We're pleased today to announce that Science has acquired Pinterest influence and Perk platform, Pinpuff. We will be relocating the founder/CEO from India to our Los Angeles Headquarters,'' Jones, said in a blog post.
