LSE, TSX merger to create world’s largest bourse

London Stock Exchange (LSE), the world's fourth largest bourse, is merging its operations with the Toronto bourse operator TMX Group Inc, the companies said today.
The merger of Europe's and Canada's leading diversified exchange groups will create a world-leading stock exchange
The merged entity will become the world's largest bourse in terms of number of listings, and No. 2 in terms of the value of the companies traded.
The boards of both the bourses unanimously agreed for the merger.
The combined transatlantic group will be jointly headquartered in London and Toronto and will offer an international gateway, leading global pools of capital formation and liquidity together with a unique portfolio of highly complementary markets, products, technologies and services.
The boards of LSE and TMX believe that the merger is strategically compelling and will create a more diversified business with greater scale, scope, reach and efficiencies, generating substantial benefits for all stakeholders.
