''Awakening giants'' focuses on BRIC economies

Mumbai: The emerging economies of the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) countries are enjoying vigorous scrutiny by the international media. A new feature 'Awakening giants', from CNBC-TV18 will focus on the four emerging countries that will help shape the future of the global economy.
The show focuses on companies that have influenced change in these four countries through in-depth interviews with business leaders, entrepreneurs, key decision-makers and opinion leaders. Each episode will address pressing issues on how businesses in these countries manage economic growth and the opportunities and risks that investors face.
Its focus on Russia on October 2, 2004, centres around adjustments made by state- owned enterprises towards capitalism and how new entrepreneurs adjusted to the currency crash of 1998 and the governments efforts to steer the country toward stability.
India will feature in the second episode on October 9, 2004, which looks at the dominance Indian companies in the IT and ITeS sectors, the huge foreign direct investment (FDI) pool, its growth over the past two years and the priorities before the new UPA government.
Similarly coverage, will be provided on China and Brazil on October 16 and October 23, 2004, respectively.
