India to judge two Emmy categories

The 33rd International Emmy Awards this year will have a panel of judges from the Indian media industry to judge nominations for two of the categories in the semi-final judging round. This was announced by Sandy Clark, Emmy's judging manager at the International Academy of Televison, Arts and Sciences, and Anil Wanvari, founder of indiantelevison.com and also the Indian Telly Awards at a press conference held in Mumbai.
The categories to be judged by the Indian judges are 'comedy' and 'non-scripted entertainment'. Interestingly, of the 26 international entries, three are from India. The panel will meet on August to judge the entries.
The panel of judges consists of media personalities like Jaaved Jaaferi, Sakshi Tanwar, Simone Singh, Nikhil Alva, among others.
The International Emmy for comedy for 2004 was won by Berlin Berlin from Germany and for 2003 by UK's The Kumars at No.42. The non-scripted entertainment Emmy for 2004 went to Brat Camp from the United Kingdom and to Without prejudice? for 2003 Both entries were from the UK.
The International Emmy Awards are awarded for 11 categories: 'best performance by an actor', 'best Performance by an actress', 'arts programming', 'breaking news', 'children and young people', 'comedy', 'continuing news coverage', 'documentary', 'drama series', 'non-scripted entertainment', 'TV movie/mini series'.
