Mutual Fund assets rise to record Rs2.89 lakh crore in July

After recording a fall in total assets under management for the month of June 2006, the mutual fund industry has made a come back in July 2006 with total assets, excluding fund of funds, rising to Rs2,88,501 crore as of end July from Rs2,65,871 crore as of June end.
Total assets under management for end July is even higher than end of May 2006, which was at Rs275,949 crore (approximately $59 billion).
Prudential ICICI Mutual continued its reign as the top find house in the country for the third month. UTI Mutual Fund retained its second position while Reliance MF came in third.
Fund houses which reported the biggest additions to assets under management were Standard Chartered with an increase of Rs3,837 crore over June 2006 and Kotak Mahindra with Rs2,685 crore.
