Global cues pull down Sensex, Nifty

Indian markets have crashed in tune with global markets, with the Sensex and the , a fall of about 4 per cent. The Sensex fell 615 points to close at 14935 and the Nifty retreated to 4345, down 183. Nifty futures discount has widens to 60 points

Asian markets witnessed a fall of about 2 per cent to 4 per cent following negative cues from the US markets. Credit and sub prime mortgage market worries and record-high oil prices sent stocks tumbling.

The Dow fell 146.32 points, or 1.10 per cent, to 13,211.99 after being up as much as 140 points during the session. The Nasdaq composite index fell 37.01 points, or 1.43 per cent, to 2,546.27. (Read More)
