Nifty ends at fresh 52-week high; Bharti surges 4.5 per cent

The benchmark Nifty closed at new 52-week high and headed towards the 5400 mark; even the Sensex marched towards the 18000 level. However, the volumes remained low.
Heavyweights like Reliance Industries, Hero Honda, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, ONGC and SBI played an important role in today's trade.
Deven Choksey, Managing Director at KR Choksey said the Nifty should go in space of 5,410 and 5,475 levels. He is expecting the Nifty to range between 5,475 on the upside to a downside of around 5,250 kinds of levels.
Oil & gas exploration, banking, metal, power, auto, realty, pharma and select capital goods witnessed buying interest. However, TCS, HUL, Idea, L&T, Grasim and BPCL were the only losers on the Nifty.
The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 17,935.68, up 243.06 points or 1.37% and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 1.47% or 77.90 points to settle at 5,368.40. The broader indices outperformed the benchmark indices; the BSE Midcap Index was up 1.5% and Smallcap up 2%.
Heavyweight Reliance Industries was the leading player, surged over 3%. Among the other oil & gas stocks, ONGC and GAIL were up 1-1.6% while BPCL fell 0.6%.
