Sensex above 18,000; markets on a new high

It is yet another victory for the markets as Sensex hit the 18,000 mark today. This came in as a surprise after the news that UPA, Left to meet again on US Nuke Deal on October 22. Sensex is up over 650 points and Nifty has surged nearly 200 points. The benchmark indices have outperformed the broader markets.
Despite all the political turbulence markets seem to be ignoring it and is making new records by not just touching new highs but has registered some record gains. Sensex logged biggest intra day absolute gains ever.
At 3.29 hrs IST, the Sensex is up 645.06 points or 3.69% at 18136.45, and the Nifty up 196.95 points or 3.87% at 5282.05.

Asian markets trading mixed. Japan''s Nikkei gained 0.92% or 157.05 points at 17,222.09, Singapore''s Straits Times rose 0.21% or 7.94 points at 3,828.25. However, Hong Kong''s Hang Seng was down 0.34% or 93.83 points at 27,676.46, Taiwan''s Taiwan Weighted plunged 1.12% or 108.76 points at 9,608.41 and South Korea''s Seoul Composite declined 0.85% or 17.18 points at 1,995.64.
