Brookline Bancorp to join Nasdaq index

New York: Brookline Bancorp of Brookline, Massachusetts, will become a component of the Nasdaq Financial-100 Index effective at the beginning of trading on 17 May 2002. Brookline Bancorp will replace Astoria Financial Corporation, which is delisting from the Nasdaq Stock Market (www.nasdaq.com).

With a market capitalisation of $681 million, Brookline Bancorp, the holding company for Brookline Savings Bank, operates several full-service banking offices in urban and suburban communities  adjacent to the city of Boston.
