Hero Motors ties up with Bombardier-Rotax
New Delhi: HEROMotors has announced a licensing agreement with Austria-based Bombardier-Rotax that will provide 125cc-175cc engines for the upcoming `Hero Aprilia' range of scooters. Hero Motors will provide the initial investment of Rs 200 crore. The Hero Aprilia scooters will be launched in May 2005, with these engines, while a 92cc engine version, without the Bombardier engines, will debut at the end of this year.

Bombardier-Rotax would also source auto components from Hero Motors and provide total quality management support to the Munjals-owned company. The auto components sourced would be for higher displacement engines being made at the Austrian facility. The company would also source the smaller capacity engines from Hero Motors. The total size of the sourcing deal would be to the tune of about $90 million (Rs 396 crore) over the next five years.

AirTel: Temporary cut in ISD rates
New Delhi: Mobile telephone service provider AirTel today announced a limited period offer for its customers to call the U.S., Europe and Canada at Rs 9.99 per minute during 'off-peak' hours. These tariffs are available till the end of the current month and will translate into a 41 per cent discount.

As per the existing tariffs, the Bharti Group-owned company was charging Rs 15.99 per minute for post-paid subscribers while pre-paid customers were paying Rs 16.99 per minute.

The new tariffs would be applicable for calls from mobile-to-mobile and mobile-to-fixed network in case of the U.S. and Canada, and mobile-to-fixed calls to Europe, he said.

Satyam's total dividend at 200 per cent
Hyderabad: Satyam Computer Services Ltd has recorded a total income of Rs 725.70 crore with a net profit of Rs 140.84 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2004. The annual revenues for the year on review were Rs 2,541.55 crore, an increase of 32 per cent in dollar terms over the previous year.

For the fiscal 2005, while expressing concern about the strengthening rupee, the Satyam management has given a guidance of 28-30 per cent growth in income from software services in dollar terms. The board has also recommended a final dividend of 140 per cent or Rs 2.80 per share. With the interim dividend of 60 per cent, the total dividend works out to 200 per cent against 150 per cent declared for the last year.

VisualSoft ends fiscal on a strong note
Hyderabad: Visualsoft Technologies Ltd has recorded total income of Rs 42.03 crore with a net profit of Rs 8.52 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31. For the financial year ended March 31, the total income stood at Rs 155.56 crore with a net profit of Rs 37.59 crore as against total income of Rs 126.61 crore and a net profit of Rs 32.22 crore for the previous financial year.

Aftek upbeat after increase in Q3 net
Mumbai: Aftek Infosys Ltd has recorded a 20.27 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 13.07 crore for the third quarter ended March 31, 2004, as against Rs 10.87 during the corresponding period in the previous year.

A press release from the company says that Aftek's investment in Munich-based Arexera Information Technologies GmbH has helped the company expand in markets outside of the US and Japan. Net sales in the third quarter grew by 49.4 per cent to Rs 36.02 crore (Rs 24.03 crore), the release added. For the nine months ended March 31, Aftek posted a 26.23 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 39.03 crore (Rs 30.92 crore).

Total targets 25 per cent growth
Hyderabad: TotalFinaElf India Ltd (TIL), part of Total S.A. of France, has targeted to achieve a growth rate of 25 per cent per annum so as to increase its share in the Indian lubricants market from the existing 1.4 per cent to 3 per cent by 2006. The company, which manufactures a wide range of automobile lubricants, has registered a turnover of Rs 240 crore last year.

Total S.A. of France is the fourth largest oil and gas group in the world with operations in more than 120 countries.

Kodak launches laser radiology machine
New Delhi: Kodak Health Imaging (HI), a division of Kodak India Ltd, has launched a new dry technology laser radiology machine at the Mahajan Imaging Centre, Delhi.

According to Kodak these are fourth generation devices with sophisticated technology that are chemical free and water free.
