Dr
Reddy's Livelihood Advancement program in Vietnam
Hyderabad: Dr Reddy's Foundation, the social arm
of the pharmaceutical major Dr Reddy's Laboratories, has
started a Livelihood Advancement Business School (LABS)
centre in Hanoi, Vietnam, in partnership with Plan International.
This is the first LABS centre to be set up outside India.
LABS aims to provide unemployed youth access to new economy
jobs.
Through a press release Dr Reddy's Foundation has said
that the Hanoi LABS centre now has 124 students undergoing
training in the first batch. The training courses offered
include IT Enabled Services, Hospitality (Hotel industry),
Customer Relations and Sales.

TRAI
to release broadband norms
New Delhi: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of
India (TRAI) will present its guidelines for the broadband
sector on Thursday.

Steel
production up 7.4 per cent
New Delhi: The total production of finished steel
in the year 2003-04 has been provisionally estimated at
36.15 million tonnes as against 33.67 million tonnes during
the previous financial year, which is an increase of 7.4
per cent. The total production of pig iron during the
financial year has been estimated at 5.22 million tonnes
as against 5.28 million tonnes during the year 2002-03.
Apparent
consumption of finished steel during the year was 30.4
million tonnes, higher by 5.2 per cent over 28.89 million
tonnes during 2002-03. Consumption of finished steel during
the year improved by 1.2 per cent to 4.76 million tonnes
from 4.64 million tonnes in the previous year.

Milad-un-Nabi holiday
New Delhi: As per list of Holidays intimated vide
Department of Personnel & Training's Circular no.
12/5/2003-JCA dated 3rd July, 2003, the holiday on account
of the birthday of Prophet Mohammad (Eid Meelad-un-Nabi)
falls on Sunday, 2nd May, 2004. It has been brought to
the notice of this Ministry that in Delhi, Prophet Mohammad's
birthday (Eid Meelad-un-Nabi) will be observed on Monday,
3rd May, 2004. Accordingly, it has been decided to shift
the holiday on account of the birthday of Prophet Mohammad
to Monday, 3rd May, 2004 in place of 2nd May, 2004 as
notified earlier, for all Central Government offices at
Delhi/New Delhi.
For
offices outside Delhi/New Delhi, the Central Government
Employees Welfare Coordination Committee or the Head of
Offices (where such committees are not functioning) may
decide the date depending upon the decision of the concerned
state governments.
