Anup Bagchi appointed managing director and CEO, ICICI Securities

ICICI Securities today announced the elevation of Anup Bagchi as the managing director and CEO.
Bagchi, who was the executive director, ICICI Securities, takes charge as CEO from 1 May, 2011. He replaces Madhabi Puri-Buch, who will move to ICICI Bank and proceed on a sabbatical for personal reasons.
Bagchi has been responsible for the development and growth of retail broking, distribution of retail financial products, and wealth management services at ICICI Securities.
In his new role, he will spearhead the company's initiatives in corporate finance, which includes equity capital markets advisory services and institutional equities; and retail equities including ICICIdirect.com.
During his tenure of 17 years with ICICI Bank, Bagchi has held many key positions in field of retail banking, corporate banking and treasury. He had pioneered online broking in India through ICICIdirect.com, which now has the largest reach to the retail segment through its two brands - ICICIdirect.com and ICICIdirect.
Bagchi holds a management degree in finance from IIM, Bangalore along with an engineering degree from IIT, Kanpur.
Among other key management changes, Ajay Saraf joins as an executive director, ICICI Securities while Mridul Mehta joins as the senior vice president, client banking.
Saraf as executive director will head the corporate finance and the institutional equities division of ICICI Securities.
