John Garcia promoted to SVP and GM, Latin America, Warner Brothers

Warner Bros Entertainment has promoted an 11-year veteran John Garcia to the position of SVP and general manager, Latin America, at Warner Bros International Television Distribution (WBITD).
Garcia will be responsible for all of WBITD's programme licensing activities - including sales, marketing and distribution - throughout Latin America and will supervise WBITD's sales team in the region. He will oversee the sale of television series, theatrical motion pictures, animated product and movies for television to all free and pay TV outlets over terrestrial, cable, satellite and emerging platforms, such as IPTV. He will also handle the licensing of current programming and titles from the Warner Bros. Entertainment collection to select new media clients in the areas of advertiser-supported (AVOD) and subscription-based (SVOD) video-on-demand.
Immediately before his promotion, Garcia had served as VP and general manager, Latin America, WBITD, in Miami, since 2005.
Prior to moving to Miami, Garcia was deputy managing director of WBITD's sales office in Madrid, with responsibility for the division's activities throughout southern Europe, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Turkey and Cyprus. He was previously director of sales/business development for Portugal and Spain, on behalf of both WBITD and Turner Entertainment Channels in Madrid. Garcia joined WBITD in 1998 as a global management trainee at the company's Burbank, California headquarters and later spent six month in WBITD's London office before assuming his duties in Madrid.
In his career, Garcia has held a number of sales and marketing positions in leading advertising and media companies, including CBS/Westwood One Inc, The Interep Radio Store, Capital Cities/ABC, KMSG-TV (the Telemundo affiliate in Fresno, California, La Agencia de Orciy Asociados, and Grupo Berlusconi (in both Barcelona and Milan).
