Majumdar bags Teachers 50 award

An electronic communication engineer, Majumdar developed a strong interest in radio technology while working as a technical apprentice at the Birla Industrial and Technological Museum, Kolkata. He joined the Air Survey Company of India for a short period, focusing on the maintenance of aircraft radio and navigation equipment at the Kolkata airport. Later he joined Fox Radio and helped set up the companys RF Division.
In July 2001, he won the prestigious Texas Instruments $100,000 Analog Design Challenge award, considered to be the Oscar award for Analog Design. His winning design was RACAS. Majumdar has also executed projects on the following: Industrial automation systems for SAIL; import substitutes for HAL and AIF; interactive voice response systems for Indian airports; communication systems for the Indian industry; and radio-controlled traffic signalling.
Some of his other operations include: Orissa Super Cyclone Disaster 1999 setting up disaster communication radio links and linking Orissa with Kolkata for handling relief and emergency traffic and back-up communication links during the Ganga Sagar mela since 1998 for the West Bengal government.
