The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIML) has set up a centre for innovation and incubation, called ICI2, to inculcate entrepreneurial skills among its students and to help them to translate their dreams into viable business propositions. A number of information technology (IT) companies and venture capitalists (VCs), including Sun Microsystems, NIIT, Hughes Software Systems and Raffles Software of Singapore have reportedly shown interest in the ICI2 project.

According to Dr Bharat Bhasker, professor of information technology and systems at IIML and also the convenor of ICI2, the centre is initially working on two ideas, one related to information technology and the other on supply chain management. The projects are in an advanced stage of conceptualisation and are likely to be incubated soon

Venture capitalists Sanjay Anandram (JumpStartUp Ventures), Sanjay Guglani (VC Line), Anand Lunia (Brainvisa.com), Nitin Seth (ActiveKarma.com), Gopal Swaminathan (Web Wevez) and Ernst & Young have expressed their desire to help ICI2 grow for mutual gain.
