Rajiv Bakshi elevated as VP marketing

Mumbai: Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific today announced the promotion of Rajiv Bakshi to vice president, marketing, for the India region, responsible for creating and implementing strategic marketing initiatives for Discovery's entire portfolio of six networks in India. He will continue to report to Rahul Johri, senior vice president and general manager, India.
Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific is a division of Discovery Communications.
During the last five years at Discovery, Bakshi played a critical role in driving ratings for Discovery Channel, establishing India's leading lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living and refreshing Animal Planet.
Bakshi has also been involved in the company's expansion strategy in India, which included the launch of three new networks in 2010 - Discovery Science, India's first 24-hour science-centric channel; Discovery Turbo, the first and only channel in India dedicated to speed and Discovery HD World, a 24-hour high definition channel offering 1080i picture resolution along with 5.1 surround sound.
A management graduate in marketing, Bakshi joined Discovery in 2004. With over 12 years of experience, he has worked in various capacities across diverse sectors including FMCG, auto, durables and hospitality.
