Samir Palod appointed 3i managing director for India

British private-equity group 3i Group Plc today announced today that Samir Palod has been appointed managing director, India, with immediate effect.
The company also said that its managing partner Anil Ahuja and Girish Baliga, partner, are leaving to pursue "other opportunities", though 3i would retain their expertise through a part-time consultancy agreement.
Palod joined 3i's Mumbai office in 2005 and is a partner in the company's infrastructure business and has worked on a number of investments both in private equity and infrastructure.
Prior to joining 3i, Palod worked at Citigroup and Arthur Andersen. He will report to London-based Cressida Hogg, managing partner infrastructure.
Samir will lead 3i's Indian team of investment professionals, based in Mumbai and Delhi, who are focused on managingthe infrastructure investments in 3i's India Infrastructure Fund and its private equity portfolio.
