Saurabh Dasgupta to judge Globes Awards 2009
08 Jun 2009
Saurabh Dasgupta, executive creative director, Innocean Worldwide, has been invited to judge the 2009 edition of the Globes Awards, organised by MAA (Marketing Agencies Association) Worldwide.
Dasgupta, who has been in the advertising industry for 15 years, and has worked for Mudra and Leo Burnett in Delhi in the past, was also on the jury for the Promotion Marketing Awards of Asia (PMAA) 2009. However, this will be his first stint with the MAA Globes.
The Awards recognise excellence in Promotion Marketing Award programmes, which are run around the globe, in partnership with MAA Globes. These programmes include AMPRO from Argentina, APMA from Australia and New Zealand, CAMPRO from Brazil, CAPMA from Canada, the Globes from Israel, Promotion Planning Awards from Japan, the PMAA Dragons from Asia, the Silver Mercury's from Russia, the Xaver Awards from Switzerland, the ISP Awards from the UK and the PMA Reggies Awards from the USA.
In 2008, Solutions Digitas and OgilvyAction were the only two Indian agencies to have won at the MAA Globes. Solutions Digitas won a Globe, while OgilvyAction won a Silver Award. A total of 51 Globes, Silver and Bronze Awards, as well as Order of Merit Certificates in 16 categories, were given away last year.
The Earth Hour Campaign from Leo Burnett Australia and the World Wildlife Fund Australia walked away with the top honours.
After launching specialist units such as Water (brand strategy and design consultancy), Terra (integrated rural solutions) and Celsius (event solutions), Mudra has formed a joint venture for yet another specialist unit which deals in the retail space.
The judging for the awards, which would be done online, will begin from mid-July.
Previously, Dasgupta has had three stints in the jury for the New York Festivals, including for this year's Awards. Ambika Sharma from Jagran Solutions was also in the jury for the PMAA 2009 and the MAA Globes 2008.
