R. Rajamani takes over as Chairman of Shell-MRPL Aviation Joint Venture

R Rajamani, managing director of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), a "mini-ratna" ONGC group company, took over as chairman of the recently formed joint venture with Shell India (P) Ltd named Shell-MRPL Aviation Fuel Services Private Limited'. Other directors on the board of the company are Vikram Mehta, chairman, Shell group of companies in India, L K Gupta, director (finance), MRPL, and Richard Jory, GM, Shell Aviation.
The chairman's nomination will be done in rotation every four years. As already announced, the Shell-MRPL joint venture will venture into the direct marketing of ATF to domestic and international airlines in Indian airports.
The joint venture company has been incorporated as a private limited company with initial equity of Rs. 30 crore; it has its registered office and head office in Bangalore.
Both MRPL and Shell will route all their future marketing activities for aviation fuelling service exclusively through this venture, which will initially commence marketing of ATF at Bangalore and Hyderabad, and later expand its operations to other airports in India. The venture will refuel foreign aircraft at Indian airports and will also contract refuelling of Indian aircraft at foreign airports through Shell affiliates.
