Rick Bott appointed as executive director and COO of Cairn India

Cairn India, a subsidiary of the Scottish firm Cairn Energy Plc, has appointed Rick Bott as the executive director and chief operating officer of the company with effect from 15 June, the company announced today.
The move to appoint Bott comes in the wake of Cairn India's strategy to strengthen its leadership team with senior experienced professionals. Bott has 20 years experience in extensive global exploration and production in the industry leading integrated organisations, developing new business and focusing on cross-cultural leadership development. He has travelled extensively, handling operations in more than 50 countries.
Prior to his appointment in Cairn India, Dott was vice president, international division at Devon Energy, responsible for developing and implementing business growth and exploration strategy for assets in 12 countries outside of North America focusing on the deepwater, West Africa, South America and the Middle East/Asia.
He has also served as the president of Ocean Egypt Companies and president of Ocean Yemen Corporation and held international management and technical positions with British Gas and Tenneco.
He holds a masters degree in geology and he is also a bachelor of science in marine sciences from Texas A&M University and is a member of the Houston Geological Society, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Society of Exploration Geophysicists, the Association of International Petroleum negotiators and has contributed for various technical and business publications for the international energy industry through his writings and workshops on developing and operating business ventures.
He has additional experience in social development projects that ensure the needs of the community and company are closely aligned wherever operations take place.
