Microsoft's global ad sales head to leave

Bill Shaughnessy is quitting Microsoft as global VP-sales, marketing and services for Microsoft.

He is expected to continue working at the company through March.

Shaughnessy, a 15-year veteran of Microsoft, before leading ad sales, was general manger of product management for MSN's communications services, such as Hotmail, Messenger and MSN Spaces.

He has also worked in ad operations and, before joining MSN in 1998, and held marketing stints for Windows.
