Harley-Davidson considering green motorcyle

Harley-Davidson Inc is considering a green motorcycle. The company's fabled highway cruisers that are as loud as they are large, would take 22 electric bikes on a US tour to start next week to elicit reactions that would help shape the development of the environmentally friendly vehicle.

Depending on the feedback, the no-exhaust Harley might not make it out of R&D, according to Mark-Hans Richer, chief marketing officer of the Milwaukee-based company.

He said in an interview that it was how the company explored the product through the eyes of its customers.

Two fleets of the prototypes would be demonstrated in over 30 cities starting 24 June in New York, according to the company's statement. People would be able to take the bike for a spin or sit astride one hooked to a machine that would simulate the riding experience, Richer said.

The tour would continue next year in more US cities as also in Europe and Canada.
