Mumbai: Indian regional carrier, Paramount Airways, is in advanced negotiations with Airbus and Boeing Co for 15 wide-bodied aircraft worth about $1 billion, according to media reports.

The deal may be announced at the ongoing Singapore air show. Paramount managing director, M Thiagarajan, is quoted as saying that talks with manufacturers were in the final stages.

According to details emerging from these reports, the order would likely be for Airbus 350s or 330s, or for Boeing 777 or 787s, with deliveries expected to take place between 2010 and 2014. The aircraft would be used to fly international routes to Europe and the Far East.

Earlier this month, Paramount had said that it was looking at aircraft for long-haul international operations from 2011.

Paramount had also said then it would add two more Embraer aircraft to its fleet, boosting fleet size to seven and that it aimed to operate a fleet of 40 aircraft by end-2010.
