US market researcher Arbitron comes to India

Arbitron, an international media and market research firm serving the media – radio, television, cable, online radio, advertisers and advertising agencies – in the US and Europe for the last 60 years, has set up its fully-owned subsidiary, Arbitron India, in Kochi.

Arbitron decided to set up the subsidiary in India so that it could enable implementation of its strategic worldwide initiatives. The U firms says Kochi being a fast emerging IT destination was an ideal choice as it has the advantage of attracting a talent pool from India and overseas.

The centre was formally inaugurated by Steve Morris, chairman, president and CEO, Arbitron Inc, at Tejomaya, L&T's new IT Park located at the Kochi Infopark.

The Kochi centre had been set up as a world class facility for software engineering, R&D and product development to support Arbitron's vision to serve the media and market research industry worldwide.

Arbitron India will also play a key role in the development of technology and providing operational support for the implementation of research firm's flagship service, Portable People Meter, and other products, which are being installed throughout the US and other countries.

Arbitron plans to ffer its employees to work on the latest cutting edge technologies, product innovation, media, mobile, telecom R&D, media and market research, statistics and analytics, the company said in a statement.
