22 May 2007
The project scope includes electrification of overhead lines, provision of auxiliary substations and a state-of-the-art SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) solution interconnecting all the stations en-route, linking the main receiving and traction substations to a central control center and a back-up control centre.
ABB
India''s comprehensive system package comprises several
power technologies including a range of switchgear, distribution
equipment and remote controlled auxiliaries. By using
similar equipment as that supplied in Phase I, DMRC will
also benefit in terms of asset management services and
managing their spares inventory.
The project is expected to be completed by early 2010.
"The metro concept is certainly gaining momentum in many of our cities to ease traffic congestion and provide an effective mass transportation solution. ABB is well positioned to execute such projects, combining our advanced technologies with domain expertise", said Ravi Uppal, vice chairman and managing director, ABB India.
The
Delhi Metro presently covers 65 km both underground and
at surface level, with 59 stations in operation. Phase
II aims to service another 100km with 75 stations. Once
completed, the network will service most of India''s capital
and adjoining areas and is expected to carry over 1.1
million passengers per day.
